WA-84
The WA-84 is a small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone modelled on the classic KM84-style design, with a transformer-coupled class-A circuit and a switchable -10 dB pad. It suits engineers recording drum overheads, acoustic guitar, percussion and strings.

The WA-84 is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone that reproduces the sound and circuit approach of the vintage 84-style mic. It has a cardioid capsule tuned with a slight dip around 8–10 kHz and a lift from 11 to 20 kHz, which keeps harsh highs under control, notably on cymbals, while keeping the top end open.
The signal path is class-A and uses a custom USA-made CineMag transformer rather than a transformerless design. Through-hole WIMA, polystyrene and tantalum capacitors are used throughout the circuit between the capsule and the transformer. A -10 dB pad is available for loud sources.
Typical uses listed for the mic are drum overheads and room sounds, acoustic guitars, percussion and orchestral or string sections. It is sold in nickel or black finish, either as a single microphone or as a matched pair, and a stereo package is offered as a related product. A manual and product registration are available from the maker.
