The 8-2 SUB is an active low-frequency monitor built around two 200mm (8-inch) bass drivers, each driven by its own 400W Class-D amplifier. Bass is loaded through an Advanced Transmission Line with an effective length of 3m. It has the same cabinet dimensions as the PMC8-2 midfield monitor and offers higher maximum SPL than the smaller PMC8 SUB.
A DSP engine handles driver protection, level trim, high-pass and low-pass filters, delay, phase inversion, shelving filters and a 5-band parametric EQ. Three user presets are stored alongside factory defaults. A dedicated XBD mode allows the unit to be paired with PMC6-2 or PMC8-2 monitors. Left-handed (SUB-L) and right-handed (SUB-R) cabinets are offered so the drivers can sit on the outer edges of a stereo array.
Signal arrives on an XLR input that switches between analogue and AES3 digital, with a digital AES3 through output. An RJ45 port connects to the browser-based SoundAlign interface for single or group settings, and an expansion card slot is reserved for future connectivity upgrades.
