Westwood is a touch-sensitive overdrive that covers light to medium gain. It can push a small combo amp into edge-of-breakup rhythm sounds or into sustaining lead tones with even-order harmonics. The Level control has enough output to drive a larger head and cabinet as well.
Four controls shape the sound. Level sets output volume and Drive sets the amount of overdrive. Bass and Treble are active controls that boost or cut around 80 Hz and 2 kHz respectively. Suggested settings on the maker's page include an amp-opener setting for adding warmth and dirt to a clean channel, and a bright, gravelly setting for single-coil pickups.
The pedal is true bypass with electronic relay-based switching, so audio does not pass when it is unpowered. It runs from a standard 9 V DC supply with a 2.1 mm negative-center barrel and draws 18 mA. Input impedance is 1 MΩ and output impedance is below 1 kΩ. The enclosure is a Blue Rose case with artwork by Matt Horak, and the maker's lifetime warranty applies.
