The HEOS Drive HS2 is a rack-mountable multi-zone amplifier with eight Class D channels, arranged as four stereo zones. It delivers 60 W per channel into 8 ohms with all channels driven. Zones can be bridged in pairs, giving 130 W per channel. Four pairs of stereo pre-amp outputs can feed external power amplifiers.
Music is streamed through the HEOS app from subscription services, internet radio stations, and files on a network or USB drive. Each zone has its own USB port. Supported formats include MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC and WAV at 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz sampling rates. Each zone's volume can be set separately, or grouped zones can share a master volume. Per the maker's Q&A, AirPlay is not supported, and each zone shows as a separate device in Spotify Connect.
The unit connects to the network through one of two RJ-45 LAN ports. It ships with rack ears for a 19-inch rack, four AC power cords and an Ethernet cable. The app and menus are available in English, French and Spanish.
