The CXN100 is a network streamer built around an ESS ES9028Q2M SABRE32 DAC and runs on the StreamMagic Gen 4 platform. It plays music from services such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer and internet radio, and it supports Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Roon and Bluetooth. Local files can be played from a USB drive.
Control is through a large colour display, a volume dial and the StreamMagic app, which handles playlists, presets, source selection and a 7-band EQ. A preamp mode, switched on in the app, lets the unit act as a digital preamp. It can be grouped with other Cambridge Audio streaming devices, and with Google Home, AirPlay and Roon systems, for multiroom playback. Firmware is updated over the air.
On the back, it has balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue outputs, coaxial and optical digital outputs, coaxial and optical digital inputs, and a USB Type B audio input. Network access is by 10/100 Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi. The case is aluminium and steel, and the unit comes in Lunar grey.
