GRIND is a hybrid synthesizer built around 24 digital oscillator engines, 15 of which are based on Mutable Instruments Plaits. Engines listed include Virtual Analog, Waveshaper, FM, Grains, Rain, Noise, Dust, DX7, TD-3 Bassline, Wave Generator and Vox. Together they cover percussion, leads, bass, drones, pads and chords.
The signal passes through a 24 dB ladder filter with controls for cutoff frequency, resonance and modulation. A mode switch selects low-pass or high-pass. Modulation comes from a dedicated analog LFO that offers triangle or square waveforms and has an LED showing the set rate.
The onboard sequencer stores up to 32 steps of notes and rests per pattern. It holds 64 patterns in 8 banks of 8 patterns each. Patterns can be played in Keyboard mode, where the pattern is created and stored, or in Step mode, which allows interaction while a pattern is being composed. An arpeggiator is also included. The product title also refers to a 16-voice poly chain.
