The LCD-2 Closed-Back is a wired, over-ear planar magnetic headphone built around a 106 mm ultra-thin diaphragm and a proprietary neodymium N50 magnet array. Its drivers use an offset-magnet layout similar to that of the LCD-2 Classic, and the sealed marbled earcups are intended to block outside noise while keeping a wide sense of space.
Comfort features include a ventilated suspension headband and thick earpads for long sessions, and the headphones weigh 612 g. Rated frequency response runs from 10 Hz to 50 kHz with distortion below 0.1% at 100 dB. The 70 ohm impedance and 101 dB/1mW sensitivity mean a dedicated headphone amplifier is advised, with at least 100 mW required and more than 250 mW recommended.
Connection is by a detachable 4-pin XLR cable. The package also includes a 4-pin XLR to 1/4" TRS adapter cable and a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter, so it can be used with standard headphone outputs. A travel case is supplied, and the model is no longer sold by the maker.
