SixPack

The SixPack holds up to six 500 series modules and powers them from a shared 1600 mA supply, which works out to an average of over 265 mA per slot. The chassis is 14-gauge steel with a powder coat finish and has a carry handle. The power supply sits outside the unit and attaches through a 5-pin locking XLR, which keeps induced noise down. Protection circuitry is included so that a faulty module does not damage the rack or other modules already installed.

Module connections use a double-sided EDAC 15-pin receptacle that is compatible with the older API pin format. On the rear, every slot has an XLR input and output wired in parallel with 1/4" TRS connectors, which can be used as mults or to cross-patch modules. Two sets of 25-pin D-Sub connectors allow integration with a workstation. Two XLR connectors on the front panel can be routed to the D-Sub or to inputs 1 and 4, making it quicker to patch in a microphone.

Additional functions include a feed switch that passes one module's output into the next, a link switch for combining stereo-ready modules, and a 1/4" TRS Omniport jack. The six slots can be arranged as 3 + 3 for a stereo channel. A separate rack adapter allows mounting in a standard 19" rack.
