The BB5-A is a large active main monitor built around PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass loading, with an effective line length of 4m. It is a three-way design: a 380mm Radial LF driver, a 75mm fabric dome midrange and a 34mm soft dome tweeter, crossing over at 380Hz and 3.8kHz.
Each driver has a dedicated amplifier in the cabinet: 900W for the bass driver and 300W each for the midrange and the tweeter. The active crossover networks use hand-selected capacitors, and the range is built with attention to details such as individual cable choice.
The cabinet is 1040mm high, 432mm wide and 790mm deep and weighs 73kg. A larger sibling, the BB5 XBD-A, is positioned for the biggest rooms. A brochure and a technical drawing are available as downloads, and registering the product within 10 days of purchase extends the warranty to 20 years under the maker's terms.
