Klipschorn AK7

The Klipschorn AK7 is the current version of the first speaker Klipsch produced. It is a three-way system in which every driver is coupled to its own horn, each tuned to one of three pass-bands. The aim of this layout is to produce more acoustic power from less amplifier wattage, with low distortion across the range.

The low end comes from a K-33-E 15" woofer working into a fully enclosed, folded low-frequency horn. The midrange uses a K1133 3" cinema-grade compression driver, an inch larger than on earlier AK6 models, feeding a patented K-406M Tractrix horn with a shorter 2" throat and Mumps contouring to keep response consistent to the horn edge. A K-771 compression driver with a new extended phase plug handles the highs.

The I/O panel sits on the back and offers passive and active inputs plus a passive output. This allows use with the optional Heritage Active Crossover, a DSP unit tuned for Klipschorn speakers that aligns time and phase and applies EQ. Cabinets are finished in book-matched veneer in Black Ash, American Walnut or American Auburn.
