The ATH-G1 is a closed-back dynamic gaming headset built around 45 mm drivers tuned for game audio. A detachable boom microphone with a hypercardioid condenser capsule handles chat and streaming, and with the mic removed the unit works as ordinary portable headphones. Smartphone compatibility varies by handset.
The frame is a lightweight, high-strength metal headband with breathable head pad and ear pads, and both pads can be swapped for replacements sold separately. A 2.0 m cable carries a one-handed volume control and a microphone mute switch. Maximum input is 1,300 mW, so higher-output headphone amplifiers can drive it comfortably.
It connects by a gold-plated 3.5 mm 4-pole stereo mini plug and works with PS5, PS4, Xbox One, laptops, desktops and other devices with a 3.5 mm jack, or with separate mic input and headphone output. A Y-type split cable is included. The maker also lists compatibility with its Immerse spatial audio software and a Final Fantasy XIV recommended-peripheral certification.
