The AK100 is a pocket-sized digital audio player built around a Wolfson WM8740 24-bit DAC. It decodes WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, APE, MP3, AAC, WMA and OGG files, with lossless formats supported at sample rates from 8kHz to 192kHz and 8, 16 or 24 bits per sample.
Storage consists of 32GB of internal NAND memory plus two microSD slots, each taking cards up to 32GB, for a total of 96GB. Operation combines a 2.4-inch QVGA IPS touchscreen with physical control buttons and a volume wheel. A built-in 5-band equalizer is adjusted by touch, and firmware upgrades are supported. The body is brushed aluminium and comes in Black, RedWine, Gold and Silver.
Connections include a headphone output, optical input and output, and USB 2.0. The optical input lets the player work as an external DAC when fed from a computer or CD player over a TOSLINK cable. A 2,000mAh Li-polymer battery gives up to 16 hours of playback and charges through Micro USB Type-B in about 5 hours.
